Project Description:
National Telecommunicator’s week—the 2nd full week in april—set aside by congress to honor those working in emergency telecommunications. This website, blog, and store was designed specifically to take advantage of a lack of competition. I felt that with some decent search engine optimization and by focusing on this niche, it would be easy to take top spots in a Google search. By giving away images and products and good information, I felt I could have a significant influence on how the event was branded and presented nationally.

Of Special Interest:

• The site includes and integrates a full shopping cart using the Shopp WordPress plugin
• Using the Google Maps API and some custom code, I incorporated a full-page Google Map with the ability for users to easily add pins showing their agency. The map has a dark color scheme that fits with the website theme.
• The NTW Facebook page is possibly more popular than the existing website and provides opportunities for year-round marketing and engagement

Project Description:
My sister—knowing that I design websites—approached me about making a website for her wedding. Wedding websites are something of a trend, making it easier for family, guests, and the wedding party to reference information they need and learn about the couple (especially if they only know one half).

Because this was a custom website, there was also the opportunity to expand upon the traditional wedding website-in-a-box offered by other companies. This site includes a form to collect addresses for the couple’s mailing list, may include a custom r.s.v.p. system in the future, and has a theme optimized for mobile.

The site’s copy was written by Oregon-based freelance journalist Kallen Dewey.

Of Special Interest:

• The graphic at the bottom, viewable on modern CSS3 compliant browsers, is a hand-drawn rendition of where the wedding will take place
• The colors were selected from the couple’s invitations.
• The navigation and header fonts use CSS3 to essentially download a copy of the font, allowing fonts that the end user likely doesn’t have on their computer. While this really only works on CSS3 compliant browsers, it allows great customization without resorting to images.
• A completely new mobile theme was created to optimize the site to small screen sizes and touch input.

Project Description:
A simple landing page with high impact. A simple logotype based on a tattoo and matching business cards.

Of Special Interest:

• The background image automatically resizes itself with the browser so that it’s always fills the browser window.
• The “cook bros” text was recreated from a tattoo — and then given some styles to look like it was cut from metal

Initial Project Description:
“The goal is a fairly simple website for Ariston Development. While it is simple, the design should be solid and incorporate the same style and color scheme as the existing business cards. While simple, the site should include a unique and visually interesting way to display project photos on the home page. At this time there are no stated conversion goals although the site will include the following interior pages: outline of services, a biography, projects, and contact.”

Of Special Interest:

• Using jQuery and the Flip plugin for jQuery, we were able to design a grid of squares on the front page that flip from the “Ariston Development” text, to a series of images from the projects, and back. Clicking on a grid square brings up a large preview of that photo.
• Project pages feature a special layout with a sidebar of information related to that project
• The background drawing scales to always fit the browser window

Initial Project Description
This project is to create a WordPress theme for Jeremy Bell Music. It needs to include the ability for users to play .mp3 audio samples, view PDF scores inline with page content. In addition it will include custom photography for a truly unique look.

Of Special Interest:

• Jeremy and I did photo shoot so that the photography on the site would be original and personalized
• Uploaded PDFs automatically generate a thumbnail with the Adobe PDF icon.
• Jeremy writes music for video game and movies, so a section and format of the site needed to accomodate Video embedding
• Two custom plugins: one for Twitter and the other for Facebook were created for the front page
• The JB logo is original and unique
