My Photography in the Gold Bar coffee shop

My Photography in the Gold Bar coffee shop

I now have some photographs hosted by the fine folks at the Gold Bar coffee shop. This is the second time I’ve been up in a coffee shop (first time was at Caffe Gourmet).

If you have a chance — and you’re in the Phoenix, AZ area — you should check this place out. Not only is some of my photography up in there, but the staff is fun, the shop is inviting, and it generally doesn’t feel like a Starbucks. Which is a good thing. They have free wi-fi, jazz on some days, and they have zero issues with you sticking around for half the day. Here’s a map to the Gold Bar.

It’s no art gallery or museum gallery. In fact, it’s got a bunch of stuff that really distracts from my artwork, but I love the coffee shop so for me it’s nice to be a part of it.

ooh. ooh. ooh…I so wish I could go back there to see your stuff on the wall. It looks great– even from here. BTW…you forgot to mention that everyone should ignore the strip mall exterior. It is not like that inside and… that the coffee is also quite good!

Yeah, actually I got a nice comment today about the photos and their presentation from Jeff Newton a Gold Bar regular and kick-ass photog, so that was really cool.

I think the locals are used to the strip-mall look to everything. I’ve kind of become used to it myself. Even REI is in a strip-mall down here. Nevertheless you are correct: this coffee shop doesn’t quite fit in with the grocery-store based strip mall that it’s housed in.

So, the more and more I think about your photography portfolio, the more and more I think you need at least one picture of an instrument of some sort. Probably a piano would lend itself nicely, like an older Steinway with some slightly yellowed music thrown on top of it. It might round out some things… even if it’s a trashed piano. Just a thought…

It looks like you have a good selection of your work up. I sure wish I could see them close up. It’s really wonderful exposure. It looks like you have work on both sides of the partision. Good Job.

@sonja No, just the inside — so 8 pieces total. Framing is somewhat expensive, I’ve been building it up slowly, 2 or 3 at a time. Thanks for the Kudos.

Whew. I fixed that weird comment styling issue. Mostly because I didn’t follow my own advice. Anyway, that weirdness is over.

I just got an IM’d comment regarding the spelling of “Caffe Gourmet.” From my recollection — I am no longer in the area — that was the correct spelling by the owners for their business. I realize that it would normally be spelled Cafe.

Did you forget to sign-in or did you want to register?. If you're just stopping by, that's okay too.
